What If I I’m Not Flexible At All? Can I Still Practice Yoga?

Yes! We’ve all seen the Intsa pics of humans twisted into pretzels. However, most of us are not naturally flexible. Don’t feel left out! Most of our instructors couldn’t touch their toes in their first yoga classes! The good news is that yoga will make you flexible (Just ask Sting!)

What If I Can’t Do Every Posture?

None of us can do every posture every time!  If you get lost, take a breather or a break. It is completely appropriate to take a seat on your mat or come into a child’s pose at any time during the class.

Do I Need To Bring A Mat or Other Material/Props?

Most people enjoy using their own personal yoga mat, but we have plenty to borrow.  We have wide selection of mats that you’re welcome to try out before buying your own. We also have all the props you will need!

Is There A Minimum Age To Attend Class?

All ages are welcome with the following guidance. High School students and older are welcome to attend any class. Students under 14 should be accompanied with an adult.

How Do I Sign Up or Register For A Class?

You can register using Mindbody or our website Leela Yoga lifestyle.

What If I Arrive Late or Need To Leave Early?

On your first visit, be early!  We’ll need to get you registered in the system and welcome you to the space. If you arrive late due to traffic or work we get it – Baton Rouge traffic is a thing! We ask that you quietly slip in, trying your best to not be disruptive to the other students. We’re thrilled you have carved out time in your day for yoga.  If you need to leave early, we suggest you let the teacher know beforehand and set up in the back of the room and depart quietly if needed. However, we recommend you stay for the entire class, which ends with 10 mins of relaxation (savasana), to take in the benefits of your practice.

I’m Worried I Won’t Know What To Do When I Get To The Studio. Is There Something Called Yoga Etiquette?

Follow these simple guidelines to have the best yoga experience possible.

How to BE a Yogi:

Be on time (traffic permitting).

It’s a best practice to arrive approx. 10 min early so you don’t feel rushed and have time to settle in.

Be Present.

Check-In with the front desk, even if you registered online or if are a member.  Be sure your cell phone is switched to silent. Or better yet turn it off so you get a break from reality!

Be Barefoot.

Kick your shoes off at the door, and leave your day behind.  Yoga is best practiced in bare feet. Also, there’s just something great about leaving your shoes and cares at the door.

Be Prepared.

Stay hydrated throughout the day and eat approximately two hours before coming to class. While water is not recommended for consumption during yoga it’s allowed if needed.  We want to feel light as we practice but we need our energy.

Be Appropriate & Respectful.

Your mat space is all the space you really need to practice yoga. Be sure to leave space for others, so everyone can enjoy the class. As always wear attire that’s comfortable while not distracting.

Be Efficient.

We use MindBody to make it easy for you to register and schedule classes online.  MindBody has an app or you can register via our website. It’s helpful to register in advance.

Be Receptive.

Open your mind to your greatest potential.  It will be revealed!

Be Patient.

“Practice, practice, all is coming.”
